Iranian films shine at Hyderabad International Short Film Festival (HISFF) 2025

The Hyderabad International Short Film Festival (HISFF) 2025 was successfully held on 21st December 2025, showcasing global cinematic talent and celebrating excellence in short filmmaking.

This year’s festival witnessed an overwhelming response, with 705 short films submitted from different parts of the world. After a rigorous selection process, 62 short films were shortlisted for screening. Following detailed deliberations by an eminent film jury, three Best Short Films were finally selected for top honors.

In a moment of immense pride, two of the most prestigious awards were secured by Iranian short films, highlighting Iran’s strong presence and artistic excellence on the global cinema platform.

• “Sarnevesht”, a short film by Yaser Talebi, was awarded the Best Short Film (1st Prize)
  • “The Whistle”, directed by Iraj Afshari Asl, received the 3rd Best Short Film Award
